1. Training for Smart Classrooms - The Committee discussed the new smart classrooms. Maury will get a list of all of the instructors scheduled for those class rooms in the IA Bldg. We will then work with Terry Carter in having 2 training dates for those faculty in September. In addition, we will work on putting instructions at lamission.edu and possibly some quick time videos on how to use the Smart Classrooms. Great work by the way on the part of Hanh and the IT staff in getting the Smart Classrooms up and running for the Fall Semester. Thanks Hanh.
2. New meeting date for the Tech Committee - We discussed a new meeting date, and decided we would meet on Tuesdays during the College hour, or at 12 noon. Our next meeting at that new date and time will be 9/18 at noon in CSB. In the meantime we need to get the master calendar and check with the other college governance committees to see if Tuesday is a good date to meet.
3. Brown Bag DE and Tech Training for Faculty - The committee discussed the idea of sharing best practices with our DE Faculty and all faculty, full time and adjunct every month through a "Brown Bag Tech Series" - This will help train our faculty in implementing technology and "best practices" both in our on campus and our online classes. Kathy Dawson is going to attend a "Best Practices" hosted by Vivie Sinou of Foothill and Etudes NG, and she will bring back good notes, and will help to work on the first in our new series of Brown Bag DE and Tech Training.
4. Review of Flex Day Agenda - The committee reviewed the Flex Day Training schedule, and Adrian suggested we change the wording of his breakout session to "Classroom Accommodation and Assistive Technology". A description of the breakout sessions for Flex Day can be located at http://flexday.pbwiki.com/description . We also changed the wording on two workshops to better reflect the coverage of the sessions - they are now - "Use of Instructor Information System" (LRC 234) and "Disruptive Student Behavior & Discipline".
We will meet one more time before Flexday. Our next meeting is on Monday, 8/27/07 at 1 pm in CSB 208. Hope to see you all there.
