1. Vote on the revised "Installation of Software Policy" - http://lamission.edu/technology/ASIRForm.doc - The Committee reviewed the updated policy. M/S/A approved.
2. Review "Revised Technology Goals" - goals-revised - The Committee reviewed and agreed the Technology Committee is an advisory and not an "oversight" committee. M/S/A
3. Discuss Goal # 10 of the Goals - "Promote awareness of emerging technologies and best practices in instruction and student service delivery". Paul Mckenna recommended that specific faculty be contacted and encouraged to put their classes online so that Mission can have an entire degree online. Paul has developed an excel file with the IGETC classes required for a degree - IGETC.xls and the Plan B list of classes - planb.xls . This is a project for Spring 2007 for both Technology and DE. David Jordan will create a flyer for the next Etudes NG workshop scheduled for Winter 2007, and faculty will be invited to attend, and possibly the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Title V Math Grant can provide stipends for faculty who complete the etudes ng training as it did in the Summer Etudes workshops.
4. Use of VOIP - http://skype.com and student services - Maury said that a RFP has been submitted on this new phone service, and he will bring the 45 page RFP document to our next on campus meeting in Spring for discussion. voip-information
5. Discuss Internet Cafe - Robotecas and wireless student access - Maury said that Adelphia had been contacted to provide a cable in the Campus Center so the Campus Center could be wired for internet and wireless. He will follow up again with Time Warner, now that Adelphia has merged with Time Warner, and he will get back to the Committee.
6. Accessiblility Sub-Committee - Adrian raised his concern about the accessibility under ADA for webpages, powerpoint, etc. used by faculty, and located on our college webpage. M/S/A a sub-committee was formed, with Adrian, Paul, Hanh or an IT rep, and David to establish a policy on accessibility. Adrian says he has new software which can be installed on computers around the campus to test accessibility of webpages. Paul mentioned that there is also another program "Accuverify" from the High Tech Center which we might consider using too. Hann should appoint an IT representative in December, so that the sub-committee can have its first meeting in January.
7. Discuss meetings during Winter Intersession - use of "Meet and Confer" meetings for Winter '07. The Committee agreed to meet on January 8th and 22nd, Mondays, at 1:30 pm during Winter, and meetings will be held by phone conference through "Meet and Confer" - Regular on campus meetings will continue in the Spring on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, at 1:30 pm, in the CSB 107 Faculty Conference Room. Those dates are as follows: Feburary 12, 26, March 12, 26, April 9. 30, May 14, 28 and June 11, 25.
